Marshal Ausberry, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Fairfax Station, VA, was elected this week as First Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). The SBC held its annual meeting June 11-12 in Birmingham, AL.

According to Baptist Press, Ausberry has led Antioch Baptist for 24 years into numerous local and global initiatives, and he is also the current president of the National African American Fellowship of the Southern Baptist Convention.

“I know I speak for the BGAV family in congratulating Dr. Marshall Ausberry, as he was elected this week as First Vice President of the SBC,” said John Upton, BGAV’s executive director. “Dr. Ausberry has served the BGAV on numerous committees over the years and has been a strong unifying voice in BGAV life on race and Kingdom ventures. We are so proud that he has already started to carry that voice of evangelism and unity to all Southern Baptists. We pledge our prayers and support as he serves well in this honored responsibility.”
