Even in the Dark

Scripture: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me.” — Psalm 23:4

Dark seasons have a way of narrowing our vision. When things feel heavy, uncertain, or painful, it can be hard to see where God is—or even believe He’s moving at all. Yet Scripture reminds us that God’s presence does not depend on our ability to see clearly.

Trusting God in dark times doesn’t mean denying the darkness. It means choosing to believe that God is still present within it. Sometimes faith looks like strength; other times it looks like simply getting up and continuing to walk, even when the path ahead is unclear.

God often reveals Himself differently in the dark. We may not see Him changing circumstances immediately, but we can sense Him steadying us, guiding our steps, and reminding us we are not alone. Darkness does not mean abandonment—it often becomes the place where trust is formed most deeply.

When we cannot see the whole picture, we lean into what we know to be true: God is faithful, God is near, and God is working—even when His work is hidden. The dark season will not last forever, but the faith built within it will.

Reflection:

Where have you sensed God sustaining you, even if the situation hasn’t changed yet?

Prayer:

God, when I cannot see clearly, help me trust You completely. Remind me that You are with me in every shadow and every valley. Strengthen my faith in the waiting and help me recognize Your presence, even in the dark. Amen.
