Trust in the Body of Christ
Scripture reminds us in Hebrews 10:24–25 to “consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together…but encouraging one another.” Likewise, Proverbs 27:17 declares, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” These passages point us to a powerful truth: trust in the Body of Christ is cultivated when we assemble, encourage, and do life together.
Trust does not happen in isolation. When believers worship together, serve together, and walk through life together, relationships deepen. As we exhort one another in the Lord—through prayer, shared testimony, service, missions, and outreach—trust naturally grows. Consistent connection allows us to truly know one another’s hearts, burdens, and callings. From that place of relationship, sharpening becomes possible.
When trust is present, constructive criticism, spiritual wisdom, and even loving rebuke are easier to receive. It matters who speaks into our lives. Words from a brother or sister in Christ—someone we have prayed with, served with, and loved—carry weight and grace. That is iron sharpening iron.
During this season of consecration through our five-fold fast—the physical fast, financial fast, social media fast, and Daniel fast—God is giving Antioch many opportunities to be on one accord. As we trust God and trust one another, unity is strengthened. And where there is unity, there is strength. I believe that as trust grows among us, God will multiply the spiritual growth, impact, and effectiveness of Antioch Baptist Church—for His glory.
Prayer:
Father God, thank You for creating us to be in community with one another. Thank You thank even through our human frailties; Your grace and mercy abound. Thank You for redeeming us. Thank You that You know how to knit us together. Thank You for how You will use these 40 days of consecration to bind us so close together that one can’t fall without the other. God, You are doing great and mighty things in the life of Your church. We are grateful that You’ve chosen to use us; help us to truly love and trust one another as we seek Your kingdom and its righteousness. Help us to pursue You as we serve one another. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
