About: Our Church

Antioch Baptist Church FFX is a family of imperfect individuals who seek to know God intimately and to fulfil the Great Commission through Christian education, fellowship, discipleship and missions.  For over 35 years, Antioch has served as a Christian home for thousands of Christians seeking to grow in Christ.  Antioch encompasses six generations of active members who serve as a second family to its many transient members.  Our members live in the heart of D.C., Maryland and Virginia and are active in their communities.  At Antioch you will find authenticity, faith, and a church family that is united in its desire to spread hope and love to a dying world.

Humble Beginnings

Antioch Baptist Church was founded on January 8, 1989. The first Worship Service was held at the Salvation Army Chapel located on Ox Road in Fairfax, Virginia. Antioch's founding Pastor, John Q. Gibbs, led a group of four others to pray for one year prior to planting this Church in Fairfax County. Joining Pastor Gibbs in planting Antioch Baptist Church was his wife (Deborah), his sister (Virginia Carter), and close friends (Bill and Kim Ryals). On that first service on January 8, 1989, Kim Ryals came forward to be baptized.  The first baptism service was held at Second Baptist Church in Falls Church, VA on April 14, 1989. At that service three candidates were baptized, Kim Ryals, Audrey Wheeler, and Michael Johnson. After a brief but rich ministry, Pastor John Q. Gibbs was called home to be with the Lord on May 23, 1995. We fondly remember our founding Pastor for his love of Jesus Christ, zeal for the Gospel, and his love of Antioch. Some of the milestones include the purchase of 3.6 acres of land and the construction of the facility located at 6531 Little Ox Road.

Expansion Years

Rev. Dr. Marshal L. Ausberry, who was mentored, licensed, and ordained under Pastor Gibbs’ ministry, served as interim Pastor, and was elected Pastor on September 6, 1995. Under his guidance, the church continued to thrive. Numerous ministries were added which included, mission programs -- helping the homeless, the sick and elderly and those in jail. Missions are also active in Haiti and other countries. At home, with the purpose of Loving God and Loving Others, Antioch Baptist is a welcoming place for newcomers as well as people who have lived in Fairfax Station and surrounding areas all their lives. Under Pastor Ausberry’s leadership, the Antioch campus expanded to twenty-three acres and a Ministry center was constructed. Pastor Marshal Ausberry retired on June 30, 2022.

Looking to the Future
