CONTRACT POSITION: BASS GUITAR PLAYER

POSITION SUMMARY

Antioch Baptist Church Fairfax Station (ABCFFX) is seeking a skilled and spiritually sensitive Contract Bass Guitar Player to support the Music Ministry. This individual supports the music ministry by providing skilled and Sprit led musical accompaniment in a manner that glorifies God and enhances congregational worship. This position contributes to creating an atmosphere of excellence in worship that aligns with the church’s vision of being a Christ-centered, six-generation church.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide bass guitar accompaniment for Sunday morning worship services and special services (e.g., revivals, concerts, holiday celebrations, funerals, and special events).
  • Attend scheduled rehearsals punctually and prepared, with music reviewed in advance.
  • Collaborate professionally with the children, youth, young adult (CYYA) Choir Director, praise team, choirs, and other instrumentalists.
  • Follow musical direction and accept instruction with a servant's heart and professional demeanor.
  • Maintain a spirit of worship and conduct consistent with the values and culture of Antioch Baptist Church Fairfax Station.
  • Arrive at least 45 minutes prior to each service or event for soundcheck and preparation.
  • Communicate promptly regarding scheduling conflicts or availability.

 QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficient bass guitarist with demonstrated experience in a church, gospel, or worship setting.
  • Ability to play across musical genres including contemporary gospel, traditional gospel, R&B worship, and hymns.
  • Ability to play by ear.
  • Reliable, punctual, and responsive to communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to read chord charts and sight-reading a plus.
  • Personal Christian faith and alignment with the mission of Antioch Baptist Church is strongly preferred.

 SCHEDULE & COMMITMENT

  • Sunday morning worship service(s) as scheduled by the Music Ministry.
  • Weekly or bi-weekly rehearsals, day, and time to be determined with the Music Ministry.
  • Selected special services, church conferences, and events throughout the year.
  • Advance notice of at least two (2) weeks will typically be provided for scheduled engagements when possible.

COMPENSATION

Compensation is provided per service/engagement commensurate with qualifications. This is a contract (1099) position; the selected individual is responsible for their own tax obligations.

EQUIPMENT

The musician is expected to provide their own bass guitar and any personal equipment (straps, cables, tuner, etc.). ABCFFX provides a direct input (DI) box and PA/sound system. Candidates should confirm equipment compatibility with the church's sound team prior to their first engagement.

  • Two (2) references, one must me from a pastor, music director, or ministry leader.

Only completed packages will be reviewed. Qualified candidates may be invited to a brief interview and/or an audition.
