Position Title: Director of Music and Arts
Reports To: Executive Pastor
Position Type: Full-Time / Exempt
The ideal candidate is an accomplished music ministry leader with extensive experience directing comprehensive worship programs including choirs, praise teams, orchestras, bands, dance ministry, and other creative arts expressions. This individual will possess exceptional musical expertise, technical production knowledge, strong administrative skills, and a demonstrated commitment to discipleship and leadership development.
Essential Responsibilities
Worship and Music Leadership
- Plan, coordinate, and direct all music and arts elements for weekly worship services, special services, conferences, concerts, funerals and weddings (as requested) and church-wide events.
- Lead and oversee adult, youth, children's, and special ensemble ministries.
- Provide musical support and oversight for choirs, praise teams, orchestras, praise bands, and instrumental ensembles.
- Facilitate rehearsals that foster musical excellence, spiritual growth, and team development.
- Collaborate with pastoral staff to ensure worship experiences support the church's vision, mission, and preaching ministry.
- Arrange, adapt, and select music that reflects the theological and cultural values of Antioch Baptist Church.
Music Production and Creative Arts
- Oversee music production activities, including recording projects, special presentations, and worship enhancements.
- Utilize professional music arranging and orchestration skills to support worship ministry initiatives.
- Manage studio recording sessions and audio production projects in collaboration with multimedia ministry.
- Leverage Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), including Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, or equivalent platforms, to support worship programming and ministry production needs.
- Provide leadership and oversight for dance, drama, spoken word, visual arts, and other creative expressions within the church.
Worship Technology and Production
- Partner with media and technical ministries to ensure excellence in sound, lighting, video, livestream, and multimedia production.
- Ensure effective sound engineering and audio system utilization of the musical staff for worship services and special events.
- Collaborate on multimedia presentations and creative worship experiences.
- Utilize percussion loops, stems, click tracks, and other contemporary worship production tools where appropriate.
- Ensure seamless integration of music, technology, and worship arts.
Administration and Ministry Operations
- Develop and administer annual budgets for Music and Arts Ministries per financial policy.
- Oversee and, or manage ministry calendars, rehearsal schedules, performances, and special events.
- Ensure compliance with all music copyright, licensing, and performance rights requirements.
- Coordinate vendor relationships, musician scheduling, and event logistics.
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with guest artists, musicians, and vendors.
- Maintain inventory and stewardship of instruments, equipment, music libraries, and ministry resources.
Leadership and Staff Development
- Supervise paid staff, ministry leaders, musicians, contractors, and volunteers within the Music and Arts Ministry.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and develop vocalists, instrumentalists, directors, and worship leaders.
- Build leadership pipelines for future ministry leaders and musicians.
- Develop and expand youth and young adult music programs that cultivate the next generation of worship leaders.
- Foster a collaborative ministry culture characterized by excellence, accountability, creativity, and spiritual maturity.
Required Qualifications
- A committed follower of Jesus Christ with a lifestyle consistent with biblical principles and the mission of Antioch Baptist Church.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in church music ministry, worship arts, or a related field.
- Demonstrated success leading comprehensive music ministries in a church setting.
- Strong vocal and instrumental proficiency.
- Experience leading both traditional and contemporary worship expressions.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clergy, staff, volunteers, congregants, and community partners.

- Professional training in Music, Sacred Music, Worship Arts, Music Education, or a related field.
- Music Technology Certification.
- Music Education coursework or degree preparation.
- Additional certifications, training, or professional development in worship leadership, music technology, audio production, or church ministry are highly desirable.
